Since I was a teenager, I like to write about some stuff that it is my interest. In seven years of this journey, I ran two blogs about the fifties, football and I was a contributor for four others websites. Now, I’m a fully committed to the Medium as a solo writer. Also, I have no rules. You can find album reviews, movies, football, pop culture and about myself.

The purpose of this article is to elucidate, motivate and give you the reasons why do I write and you should too. I would like to introduce advising that there’s nothing better than spread your thoughts into a white paper ou a blank computer screen and see that your efforts gave the expected results.

Share ideas, knowledge and experiences

Do you have a story to tell? Have you watched a movie or have a memory of your life to share with the public? Just write about it. Probably you don’t know how your story can impact others lives. I can’t measure how powerful can be a sequence of words that translate into ideas and experiences narrated by the author.

I feel free to say whatever I want on this platform and learn from the others like The Writing Cooperative, Writing Together, Moss Clement, Larry Kim, and et cetera. I like to give something to my audience at the same time I have fun reading because reading is a fuel for a writer.

Great hobby

It doesn’t matter what subject comes next. The only reason that I write is that I enjoy it. I have no goals to achieve except to keep publishing. All I want to do it writing about something. How do I do that? Think about the things that interest you and be aware of everything that can inspire you. If you like sports, music, politics, culture, travel or you can write about yourself. I’ll make sure you won’t regret it. I’ve been doing this for almost a decade.

English is fun and challenging

No matter what is your language writing is writing. Although, when I was reading more often in English than in Portuguese made me realize that I should do the same thing writing. It’s been two years that I’m writing in English and every line wrote it’s a new challenge sometimes hard, stressful but at the same time it is fun and delightful. There’s nothing more gratified when the result comes.

Motivation

The Medium community has a ton of stories that appear in my newsletter every day. Stories like “How to Improve Your Writing Skills in a Foreign Language”, “What Should I Write About?”, “The Hemingway Rule”, “How I became a top writer on Medium” and “10 Simple Steps to Find and Perfect Your Writing Voice” encourage me every single day write something. The Medium is like a neighborhood that everyone helps each other in any kind of ways which is incredible. I’m proud of being part of the community doing this same thing. I hope that I may inspire you as I am through three years of being a Medium member.

For Christ sake write and don’t worry about what the boys will say nor whether it will be a masterpiece nor what. I write one page of masterpiece to ninety one pages of shit. I try to put the shit in the wastebasket. — Ernest Hemingway

BONUS: Creativity boost

We’re always used to think that creativity is a genetic skill. Do not ever think about it. Whereas, we’re the most creative beings in the world. Did you know that kids use to draw in a piece of paper and play dough because this boosts them creativity at the school? Yes, but we may lose that habit of stimulating our brains when we are getting older. However, I’ve found writing as my favorite and inspiring hobby that ables me to create something new everytime as possible. Creativity is a like a muscle and we need to exercise it.
